Missions are Awesome

Hello everyone!

I have been out for a month only 17 more! Time goes by so fast I can't beleive it has already been a month.

We had some interesting experiences this week.

We tracted A LOT and it is not successful. The Jehovas Witness tract every neighborhood in my area like once a month so everyone usually thinks we are them or nuns. (everytime someone calls me sister I picture myself as Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music on the hillside singing a song). While tracting a guy tried to convert my companion and I. He said we needed to do anything other than our churhc and so I asked him why and he asked, "have you been saved?" and I said, "yes" and then we had an awkward staring contest and he didn't respond for a while, (we talked to him for probably 5 minutes before he told us not to go to our church and my comp didn't say anything so I was on my own. She gets nervous on door approaches so I have had to step up some and it was rough at first but now I love it) after the staring contest he said "Okay" and we left. After this we tracted into a girl named Chavita who is so prepared to hear about the gospel. We talked about the gospel, sex, alcohol and drugs. She said she was struggling a lot with her relationship with Christ and not having sex with her boyfriend, and drinking like all of the other kids at school. Her dad is a pastor and she feels like she needs more. We invited her to church but she didn't come this week so we are hoping we can see her again soon. The spirit was so strong while we talked with her. She cried, my comp cried, I didn't cry because most of you know I am not a crier. But it was really amazing and now I have developed a love and excitment for finding people! I have been waiting for something like that to happen and I was really really happy. It made my week so much better.

So we have sheep in Rocklin everywhere. There is a huge flock in a field right by our church and a busy road. Twice this week while my companion and I were driving a sheep got out of the field and was trying to cross the road haha. So naturally we pull over to try to herd it back into the fence and get it to get out of the road. Other people pulled over to help us one night and we told one lady that it had happened three times that week (the other sisters we live with did it once this week as well) she asked us, "How do you keep finding them?" Then she saw our name tags and said, "Oh you are Jesus's people you have a direct line to the real Shephard." It was so funny haha I will include pictures. I don't think Jesus meant to literally find and save sheep but that is what is happening haha.

As I have been doing my scripture study I have come to realize that Nephi is a real man and he is awesome. I have been wondering how can I be more like Nephi how can I become as faithful as him. So I was thinking about that and in my scripture study I found an answer, D&C 33:7-8. I challenge you all to read it and apply what you learn. What I learned from it is I need to start talking about the gospel immediately, usually when I start talking to someone I talk way to much about their personal lives what they do etc. and then share a small message about the gospel. I need to spend more time talking about the gospel. Share the gospel with someone this week! Invite someone to church, there is nothing better you could do for them.

Love ya all! Miss you tons!

Just a few pictures of the sheep. How hot it is in my car. And a really big giants fan, Dad you should paint your garage of the raiders ;)
